Disclosure language for donors residing in California, in conformance with California Government Code §12586 and the registration requirements of the California Attorney General Registry of Charitable Trusts.
State Disclosures — California
This page is the California-specific charitable-solicitation disclosure for Global Donors Foundation, served to donors residing in California. The general disclosure for all other jurisdictions is available at /legal/state-disclosures.
California-specific notice
Global Donors Foundation is registered (or will register, prior to soliciting donations from California residents) with the California Attorney General Registry of Charitable Trusts. The registration number, once issued, will be published on this page and on our Transparency page. California Government Code §12586 requires charitable organizations soliciting donations in the state to register with the Registry of Charitable Trusts and to file annual reports; we comply with those obligations from the first dollar solicited from a California resident.
For more information about charitable trusts in California, including Global Donors Foundation's registration record once filed, donors may consult the California Attorney General's Registry of Charitable Trusts at oag.ca.gov/charities.
501(c)(3) determination
Global Donors Foundation's 501(c)(3) determination is pending with the IRS. Donations made through this site are not yet tax-deductible as charitable contributions under federal law. California donors should be aware that federal determination governs federal deductibility and California state-tax treatment follows federal recognition. After determination, GDF will update donor-facing deductibility guidance with the final IRS and counsel-reviewed status context.
Financial information availability
Once Global Donors Foundation has filed Form 990 with the IRS, the Form will be available on our Transparency page. California-registered charities also file CT-694 (Annual Financial Solicitation Report) and CT-1 (Initial Registration Form) with the Registry of Charitable Trusts; these filings will be publicly accessible through the Registry's online search portal once on file.
California donor rights
In addition to the donor rights enumerated in our general State Disclosures page, California residents may:
- Submit complaints about charitable solicitation practices to the California Attorney General's Charitable Trusts Section at the address published on oag.ca.gov;
- Request a copy of any document filed by Global Donors Foundation with the Registry of Charitable Trusts;
- Exercise rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as described in our Privacy Policy.
Updates
This California disclosure is reviewed at minimum annually and updated as Global Donors Foundation's California registration record changes. The version date is at the bottom of every revision.
